Create the illusion that someone may be home
Unoccupied homes will always be the number one target for theft and vandalism, so if you’re working or just out and about on a dark winter evening, a simple way to reduce this risk is to create the illusion that the home is or may be occupied.
There are a couple of ways to achieve this, one being simply to close any blinds or curtains, meaning a possible intruder cannot be absolutely sure that the home is unoccupied.

Invest in locks for every form of entry

Most if not all homes will have locks installed on doors and most windows, but it is important to remember that no entry point is too small for a determined burglar, so even small windows should be adequately protected. Test your security systems
