The installation of a Hydraulic Gate Closer is fairly straightforward, and this is reflected in the extremely short list of tools you will need to complete the job.
· Screwdriver
· Screws (some models will come with screws provided)
If the particular Hydraulic Gate Closer you have purchased does not have screws included, it is important to check which screws are compatible with the device to ensure a secure and functional installation.
The first step of the process is to choose the appropriate position to install your Gate Closer. Using the centre pivot line of the gate hinges as a guide, measure 222mm downwards, then install the guide roller to the gate. You may need a separate bracket or spacer to install the guide roller.
If the guide roller is in the correct place, it should line up with the closer perfectly, with some models having locating marks on the body of the closer to assist you.
Now it is time to the body of the closer on to the gate, after removing the end cap, slide the body of the closer on to the guide roller. Once this is completed, you can then replace the end cap back on to the body of the closer.
Next, you need to secure the mounting bracket to the gate posts using the screws, ensuring that the bracket is lined up properly for a fully functional installation. Once you’ve done this, open the gate slowly until the holding pin at the bracket end of the closer either falls out or can be removed with ease.
This step is vital, as if the holding pin is still in the closer during operation, the gate will not open correctly and can result in damage to the closer.
Adjusting the closing and latching speed of a hydraulic gate closer is as simple as its installation process. With the door open at about 45 degrees, insert your screwdriver in to the hole and turn in quarter turn augmentations, with clockwise turns resulting in slower closing speeds and anti-clockwise resulting in faster closing speeds.
The latching speed follows the exact same process as adjusting the closing speed, but this adjustment occurs when the gate is in a closed position.
If you wish to use the hold open function of the hydraulic gate closer, simply remove the screw from the centre hole of the line of screws in the mounting bracket, and reinsert it in to the hole in the end of the closer closest to the bracket so the screw is in a safe place. To reverse this, just reinsert the screw back in to the centre hole of the mounting bracket.
