Step-by-step guide

1)    You should start by double checking that the tracks that are included in your sliding wardrobe doors kit are the same width as your wardrobe. If they aren’t, then you’ll need to trim your tracks. You can do this using a hacksaw or an electrical saw.

Tip: For optimum accuracy, always make sure the hacksaw is spinning before you start to cut the metal - and don’t forget to wear protective goggles and gloves.

2)    Now it’s time to install the top track to the top of your wardrobe. The placement of your top track will vary depending on your door, so it’s best to refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines or instructions for exact measurements.

3)    Most commonly, sliding doors are designed so that they don’t require a bottom track, although there are some doors that do. If your sliding wardrobe door track kit comes with an additional bottom track, then position the track in place at the bottom of your wardrobe. Use the pre-drilled holes and securely screw the track.

4)    Next, you should fit the rear door. To do this, lift the door onto the backtrack, and simply slide it into place. For this to fit properly, the rollers should be correctly aligned with the rear track.

Tip: For optimum accuracy, it may be a good idea to ask for help from a friend of family member. Plus, depending on the size of your door, they can be quite heavy – so having assistance will make it easier to carry.

5)    Once the rear door is in place, move onto fitting the front door. Install the front door using the same process in the previous step. Again, you must ensure the rollers are correctly aligned afterwards.

6)    To calibrate the door, utilise the adjustable screw at the bottom of each door. This allows you to raise both doors slightly, should you require. Once you’re happy with the results, lock the anti-jump device on the bottom track to keep in place.

It’s worth noting these instructions offer a general guide to installing sliding wardrobe doors, and so steps can vary depending on the manufacturer. With that in mind, it’s worth double checking your instruction manual throughout the installation process, for guidelines that are more specific to you.
