What’s the 3mm spacing as opposed to the 0mm spacing?

Good afternoon, 3mm spacing mounting plates are suitable for a carcass thickness of 15mm or less. 3mm spacing is suitable for thicker carcasses of 18mm or more. I hope this helps.
