The perfect playlist for each trade revealed

To create the perfect playlist for each trade, we analysed thousands of Spotify playlists with trade-related words in their titles (e.g. construction, plumbing) to discover the most common songs that appear, and there were some surprising results!

Australian rockers AC/DC feature the most often in these playlists, and we found that Back in Black was the most listened to song amongst tradespeople overall.

But songs from other genres, including Africa by TOTO, and good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo, also appear in the top 10, whilst Lana Del Rey, Fleetwood Mac and Harry Styles are amongst the most popular artists.

To help tradies find their favourite work tunes, we’ve analysed the top results for each trade, and created a bespoke playlist for each, as well as a master playlist that covers the results from across the sector.

Builders

Builders listen to a real mixture of tunes. The most popular song is Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People, while other songs, from rock classics like Back in Black, to modern pop and R&B, like Sweater Weather and Blinding Lights, also feature.

Electricians listen to an even more varied selection than builders, with the electronic song Closer by The Chainsmokers featuring alongside rap artists like Doja Cat, and indie tune, The Less I Know the Better, by Tame Impala.
