Replaces existing letter plate
The Yale slimmaster letter plate I replaced was 28 years old when the spring gave up so anything that lasts for that long must be worth another chance

180 degree hinges would be more reliable
I purchased this goodlooking model only because it is an exact replacement of the original letterbox which is fixed to a narrow part of the door, leaving little space for a less slim letterbox. This model has a 90 degree hinge which I would avoid if at all possible- this being the weak part on both flaps. If possible buy a letterbox with 180 degree hinges, these should give longer life, minimising the damage caused by heavy handed users. If this 90 degree hinge letterbox is installed at a low level the greater the risk of damage.

Exactly what I wanted
This was a replacement for our front door mail slot cover. It was straight forward to fit and really looks good, it has transformed the door.
