In an ideal situation a toilet cubicle door which is used by the elderly, infirm or disabled should be outward-opening, away from the cubicle area, allowing safe emergency access in the event of the occupant collapsing behind the door. When the building design does not allow for this, these fittings are a useful alternative
The pivot set is used instead of hinges, fitted without a frame stop which means the door can swing both ways
The release stop (sold separately) is fitted instead of a frame stop - it acts as a stop and in normal use will only allow the door to swing one way, just as a normal timber stop
