The Acorn sash stop fits into the side rail of the upper sash and is cut in flush, the Acorn on its chain is attached to the top of the lower sash and is retained there when not in use. When the Acorn is screwed into its plate it will act as a stop, therefore allowing the sashes to be secured open in the ventilated position.
The sash screw passes through the centre rail where the sashes meet; therefore locking them, as no vertical movement can then be achieved.
