Rise & Fall Hinges

Rising butts are used where the door is required to self close into the frame, i.e to stop draughts or for privacy.
Care must be taken when fitting them to doors used by young children as there is a risk of fingers getting trapped.
Important; rising butt hinges must be lubricated frequently whilst in use.
Use 'Lithium 3' grease.

Steel rising butts offer the same features as the Stainless Steel Grade 304 without the weight capabilities. They are generally used on light hollow core doors.

Falling butts are used where the door is required to self open out of the frame, commonly used in toilet cubicles where the door falls open into the cubicle when not in use. This allows easy identification of vacancy and helps prevent vandalism by keeping an area open and in full view.
