All of our products in the antique black ironwork range have been carefully selected under our 'fit once and forget' policy. This range should not be confused with the inferior imports which are often seen in today's large chain DIY stores and hardware shops. A key feature of this range of hardware is it's strength and durability. You will find that DIY stores versions are brittle and will break under any force. We have included locking casement fasteners in the range to allow for added security without compromise to style.

Product care: it's important to care for antique black items just as you would any other finish. Left alone items will eventually rust and deteriorate. Wash with warm soapy water periodically, rinse and finish with a light application of furniture wax. Annually items will benefit from rubbing with an oily cloth and drying with a soft cloth.

An added advantage with these bolts is the loose shoot guides that can be fixed in any position along the bolt allowing for greater throw of the bolt, a useful feature when fitting to doors or gates that have a gap below. Rough cast from solid brass and finished with a fine lacquer coating to prolong the finish. This range is truly authentic and hand made from casting to packing, it's the genuine article that's been widely copied. Traditionally seen on cottages and period properties where a tough and robust alternative to black iron is used as a design feature.

Maintenance will be required as the product is manufactured from solid brass. To keep the products in their original condition wipe over regularly with a liberal application of household wax polish. Once the lacquer finish starts to deteriorate you should follow the care instructions detailed at the back of this catalogue.

Cast from solid bronze, all items pass through a series of processes to achieve the natural patina. The finish is completed with a thin coating of beeswax. In time and usage the original colour of this product will slowly age, giving each piece its own natural uniqueness. Periodic wiping with a lightly oiled cloth or fine paste beeswax will further help to preserve the look of the product.
