Thumb latches, often referred to as Suffolk or Norfolk latches are a traditional method of operating a ledged & braced, or framed ledged & braced, traditional joinery door. The two fancy designs also feature a locking pin that makes them an ideal choice for privacy locking bathrooms and bedrooms. The locking pin hole can be drilled discretely through the door to allow emergency access by means of pushing the pin out of the inside handle through the hole. It is important that you care for the black iron finish just as you would any other metal fitting. We recommend you follow our simple care of finishes guide for black iron.
