Door and window sales industry 'not gloomy'
Posted on 29 August 2008
Recent research suggesting a drop in orders for windows and doors for the new build sector may be over-exaggerated, it has been claimed.
According to hardware store Avocet, studies carried out by Palmer Market Research indicating a 32 per cent drop in window and door sales in 2008 compared with last year 'may be overdone', Buildingtalk reports.
Kevin Harvey, managing director of the firm, told the news provider: "We can't pretend that our own crystal ball is better than anyone else's but some of the gloom seems overdone."
He went on to say sales business is down three per cent on last year and the firm does not see any signs of "total collapse" in the industry.
Last week, the Romford Recorder reported residents in east London who were left for five months with broken and lockless doors have been given £22 compensation.
The tenants described the payment as a "slap in the face" and said they plan to take their case to the ombudsman, according to the news provider.
