Shackle padlocks and internal floor locks 'can secure garages'

Residents in Cambridgeshire have been urged to secure their sheds and garages using shackle padlocks, window locks and alarm kits, in response to an increase in thefts.
According to the Town Crier, 42 shed and garage burglaries have been reported to police in Huntingdonshire and Fenland since July 1st.
Crime reduction manager Sally Davies told the news provider outbuildings often contain high-value items and homeowners often overlook sheds and garages when considering the overall security of their property.
"Therefore, please take time to review the security of your garage or shed and consider taking steps to make them more secure," she continued.
Ms Davies went on to recommend employing security measures such as fitting internal floor locks to garage doors, chaining and locking valuable items together and adding additional window locks and window alarms.
Last week, InLoughborough.com reported residents in north-west Leicestershire have been warned by police to think carefully about where they store keys to avoid them being stolen by burglars.
