Police in Bury are urging local residents to remain alert and keep their doors and windows securely locked, following a spate of burglaries in the area, it has been revealed.
According to the Bury Times, the force is investigating six separate incidences where burglars gained entry through open or unlocked doors and windows over the recent bank holiday weekend (August 23rd-25th).
Detective inspector John Mazzolai, from Bury police's volume crime team, told the news provider: "We are asking that residents stay alert and keep their windows and doors locked. I would ask residents to also check just how secure their locks really are."
He went on to recommend that doors and windows be kept locked, alarms switched on and light timers plugged in and set.
Earlier this week, police in Northumbria called on local residents to secure their homes effectively following a rise in the number of burglaries and an increase in thefts in the Kenton and Blakelaw areas.
