Buckingham homeowners 'should tighten home security'

Residents in Buckinghamshire have been urged to ensure external windows and locks are secure and fit additional locks where necessary to help keep would-be criminals at bay as the nights draw in, it has been revealed.
According to the Bucks Herald, crime reduction advisers in the county also recommend installing motion sensor lighting by doors outside homes, setting indoor lamps on timer switches and trimming overgrown trees and hedges that could hide a burglar from neighbours or passers by.
The news provider went on to say an inventory should be made of electrical goods, such as DVD players and computers, and they postcodes should be written on them in ultraviolet pen or permanent marker.
Last week, police in Oldham recommended that local residents make sure their doors and windows are securely locked following a series of attempted burglaries in the area.
Chief Inspector Rob Tinsley said: "People are making it too easy for burglars and by leaving their doors unlocked they do risk losing their valuable possessions."
