Bikes 'should be locked in sheds'

Cyclists in North Tyneside have been urged to keep their bikes in sheds with good-quality locks on the door, it has been revealed.
According to the News Guardian, police in North Shields have reported an increase in the number of bike thefts in the last two weeks.
Inspector Geoff Cross told the news provider: "In particular several children's bikes have been stolen and we're asking parents to remind their children to take extra security precautions.
"In most cases the bike was stolen because it was left outside a house or just in the street but without any security.
He added that when locking a bike the frame and removable parts should both be secured and keeping them in a locked shed can also be an effective security measure.
Earlier this week, the Weston and Somerset Mercury reported homeowners in Somerset were urged to secure their garages using products such as garage door handles and drop-down garage bolts after a spate of mountain bike thefts.
