Draught seals 'can attract tenants'

Posted on 09 October 2008

Draught seals Energy-efficient homes making use of emission-reducing measures such as draught and threshold seals are likely to be more attractive to prospective tenants than those without, it has been claimed.

Nancy Baynes, spokesperson for the Energy Saving Trust, said is vital that rental properties as well as private residences are made as energy-efficient as possible.

"We know that people are going to be looking to rent out places that are cheaper to run - it's hardly rocket science," she added.

"An energy-efficient home with lower running-costs will be much more appealing to prospective tenants."

Ms Baynes went on to say private housing tenants can save up to £700 a year on energy bills if their landlords install straightforward energy saving measures.

The London Climate Change group claims that making your property 'greener' can deliver benefits such as raising the capital value of properties and increasing rental prices, as well as helping to save the planet.
